BMW G8X S58 Oil Cooler Guard

Unrelated but true: this is the shop during Car Week in Carmel/Pebble Beach when you need last-minute fixes or Concours prep. If you know, you know—this is where the serious exotic guys take their cars.
Dropped off my Meyers skid plate (oil cooler guard) for the 2026 M4 Competition and the crew was straight-up geeking out over the quality and perfect fit compared to the usual junk. Watching their reaction was half the fun.

Well thought out design (retains the stock Gurney flap without having to re-mount, looks to provide good protection without being overly restrictive to air flow), good machining/powder coating and I like that is uses the stock holes for mounting.
It should come with hardware that is better matched to the application that is black instead of plain steel and the screws in lengths that are stock plus the thickness of the spacers and the thickness of the aluminum guard. Screw heads matching the stock 10mm drive would also be a nice touch.
I decided to cut 1/4" off of the rear 2 screws as they could touch a structural member above and I'd rather avoid cutting into the paint there.
Also, I noticed after install that the center rear does hang down about 3/8". I removed and attempted to put some bow into it to counteract this but due to the large span between mounting points in this area, the hang down remained.
I wanted to avoid this area potentially bumping against the plastic shroud due to buffering at speed, even though you probably would not hear it over road noise.
I decided to use a 3/8" self tapping screw through the "MF" logo to cinch this area tight. While this did require making a screw hole in the plastic shroud, it was a small price to secure the entire plate to the underside, tucking is up flat against the shroud. The "MF" logo came in handy here!
Packaging is impressive, but maybe overkill. Save a few bucks on traditional packaging and maybe invest that in better hardware.
Overall, excellent product. I am happy with the purchase and confident that this will provide the needed protection to this precariously placed and exposed cooler.

Fits well and seems very well built! Even the wooden box it came in inspired confidence!

Still hard to believe that BMW shipped the car (g87) without one of these, but the Meyer kit fills that hole nicely.

Could not have been easier to install, especially on a lift. 10mm socket to take OEM screws out, 8mm socket to put them back on.

Only nitpick is I wish the screws and washers were black to match the plate and OEM screws, but that is just silly nit picky.
